This French provincial estate home is situated atop a set of rolling hills in the picturesque haven of the Creighton Farms community. At 6,000 square feet, the home is designed for lavish entertainment, while providing flexible living spaces for a fluctuating number of inhabitants – offering the capacity for single-level living, if desired. It presents a traditional front facade and culminates with double-height glazing on the rear, providing the Family Room and Salon with plentiful natural light and exquisite views. Careful attention was dedicated to incorporate these dramatic spaces while maintaining a restrained, balanced massing on the exterior. Parged brick, battered stone chimneys, flared slate roof with snow birds, and rustic wood elements all convey an old world charm on the exterior.

This refined rustic theme is carried throughout the interior as well – evident in the tumbled edge, honed travertine, matte-stained hardwood floors, custom-crafted walnut paneling and cabinetry in the Hearth Room and Study, ornate coffered ceiling treatments, and marble accents in the Owner’s Bath and fireplace. The symmetrical aspects of the floor plan, such as the His & Hers amenities of the Owner’s Suite, and the procession down the center corridor emphasizes the formality of its interior spaces. Moving outside, the home boasts an ample outdoor living and entertaining space that spills out onto the hills beyond.

Light and Shadow

Architecture is all about the interplay of light and shadow; texture and temperature; more about the way a space makes you feel than a collection of its parts. It’s experienced not just in 3 dimensions but as a function of time. As your senses collect the information around you, time passes, and new experiences are formed. Take for example the way the sun fills a space…how the light transforms its surfaces…then watch, as the earth rotates and the sun’s angle changes; the light now reinventing the space. You see…life and time unfold in a space. Memories are formed, moments are framed…marked by the space they’re experienced in and etched in your mind for eternity.

This aspect of architecture enriches the human experience. Every new space you enter expands your perceptive qualities; cognitively and emotionally. It’s this richness, in each person as a child-like discoverer, that propels us to search for depth and richness in all we encounter.

Discover

We do not create the work. I believe we, in fact, are discoverers.
